'Body odor, why?': Formerly homeschooled high school student bemoans the 'atrocious' things she saw in her first week of public high school

Homeschooling never ceases to be a controversial topic, and quite a lot of the time, this is because of homeschool parents holding certain beliefs or pursuing certain methods of education that not everybody is going to agree with. One of the side effects of this is that it has a chance of producing kids who are less well-adjusted to the norms of society, which is occasionally a positive, but often proves to be negative.

When children get older and begin to become more active participants in the world around them, the difference between those who are homeschooled and those who are not can become very obvious—even to those who went through the homeschooling process. This is especially true if they at some point make the transition from home to normal school and are faced with the realities that come with that. It can come as a shock for everyone involved.

  • This seemed to be the case when one high schooler made the transition from homeschool to public school and decided to document the “atrocious” things that she had seen after only a week of experiencing it.

    Focusing a lot on the appearances of her fellow students, reactions to her opinions were pretty mixed, with a lot of people claiming that, on many counts, she was being overly judgmental. Overly sheltering your kids is not necessarily the best way for them to adjust to life.

    Maddy Moore418 Remember folks, this is a formerly homeschooled child. I knew girls who were this level of sheltered. Every single one hit adulthood and apologized to so many people for being so judgmental, and I just know that if they had put a video like this out they would regret it like crazy. I hope this girl can learn and grow, and that this video doesn't haunt her too much when she does.
